Portage Learning & Literacy Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides academic, literacy, employment programs for the public, settlement services and English as an Additional Language classes for newcomers.
Through a positive learning environment, to provide the residents of Portage la Prairie and surrounding areas with opportunities to realize their individual literacy, educational, and employment life goals.
THROUGH THIS MISSION FLOWS A SERIES OF PRINCIPLES:
1. We are committed to inspire students to become enthusiastic lifelong learners by providing students with individualized goal-oriented programs in a supportive, respectful environment; providing participants with a positive learning experience and; being sensitive to our participants’ personal vision of success and being dedicated to inspire them to meet new goals.
3. We are committed to work in partnership with other community organizations, institutions and to respect their individual mandates and regulations.
4. We are committed to manage and operate the organization in a responsible ethical manner.
5. We are committed to sustain the Portage Learning Centre by: developing good will and a positive image; developing financial partnerships with all who share our vision.
PORTAGE LEARNING CENTRE PHILOSOPHY
The primary objectives of the Portage Learning Centre are to:
a) Maintain a well-organized, well managed productive Learning Centre that can make a meaningful contribution to the life long learning needs of our participants, and our community.
b) Develop academic, life skill and employment skill programs that are of value to our participants, the referring agencies, and to the community.
c) Be fair, ethical, and honest in dealing with participants, referring agencies and organizations, and suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
d) Be always in pursuit of innovation - new ideas and new processes that will benefit the Portage Learning Centre, participants, referring agencies, and the community.
e) Do everything in our power to make the Portage Learning Centre a good place to learn and to work and an asset to our community.
